The 3 of us made a trip to the famous Refugio del Quetzal located in San Rafael pie de la Cuesta, San Marcos, beautiful Guatemala.
The male Quetzal with a long tail is the national bird of Guatemala. The female Quetzal is a tiny bird and has a short tail and lays blue (!) eggs.
We saw lots of birds like the Emerald Toucanet I believe, a green toucan, and enjoyed the nature. If you want to see the Quetzal you need to go in the early morning hours. It was a great little adventure and definetly worth to recommend!
